L'ambiance
Satsang was a beloved vegetarian grill and café in Vršovice that brought a cool, industrial vibe to Krymská street. The open kitchen and exposed brick walls created a welcoming atmosphere where you could watch the chefs whip up creative plant-based dishes. From the mezze platters with homemade dips to the deep-fried taro special, every bite felt thoughtfully crafted. Unfortunately, the original team announced their closure in December 2025 after nearly nine years, making it a bittersweet farewell to a local favorite that truly embraced cruelty-free dining without compromising on flavor.

A Creative Vegetarian Gem That's Now Gone
Satsang was a standout in Prague's vegetarian scene, offering more than just salad bowls. The industrial-chic space with exposed brick and an open kitchen made it feel like a real neighborhood spot rather than a trendy tourist trap. The mezze selection was outstanding—those homemade dips paired with fresh flatbread were enough to satisfy any appetite, and the deep-fried taro was a revelation, soft and flavorful in a way that reminded me of comfort food done right. The staff were genuinely welcoming, and the whole experience felt like hanging out with friends who happen to be amazing cooks.
What made Satsang special was how they proved plant-based food could be hearty and satisfying without feeling like a compromise. The pappardelle with mushrooms and the Farmářská zelenina bowl were both generous portions that left you genuinely full and happy. The wine selection was solid too, and those preserve-jar glasses added a nice touch of character. While it's now closed, the memory of those evenings watching the open kitchen in action, surrounded by the smell of herbs and spices, will stick with anyone who was lucky enough to visit during its run.
