Solid bread and coffee, great evening vibe too
Rug Bakery has become a solid go-to for anyone who appreciates proper bread and coffee in Copenhagen. The sourdough here is genuinely excellent—crispy crust, proper chew, and you can taste the quality of the ingredients. I'm a fan of their overnight oats, which are creamy and not too sweet, and the mushroom toast is a standout if you want something savory that's still light enough for lunch.
The space itself is welcoming without being pretentious. It's part of the larger Villa Copenhagen complex, so you've got that modern backdrop, but Rug keeps its own personality. Mornings are quiet and perfect for getting work done or just enjoying a proper espresso. By evening, the mood shifts with wine and pizzas on the menu, though the bakery atmosphere remains.
If I had one critique, the vegan options are a bit limited—there are a couple of cookies and you can make the mushroom toast vegan by asking, but don't expect a full plant-based menu. Still, for a place that focuses on bread, coffee, and wine, they've hit the mark. Worth a visit if you're in the Postbyen area.

Rug Bakery est devenu un incontournable pour quiconque apprécie un vrai pain et un bon café à Copenhague. Le pain au levain ici est vraiment excellent—croûte croustillante, texture parfaite, et on sent la qualité des ingrédients. Je recommande particulièrement leurs flocons d'avoine la nuit, crémeux et pas trop sucrés, et le toast aux champignons est un excellent choix si vous voulez quelque chose de savoureux mais léger pour le déjeuner.
L'espace est accueillant sans être prétentieux. Situé dans le complexe plus vaste de Villa Copenhagen, il a ce décor moderne, mais Rug conserve sa propre personnalité. Les matins sont calmes et parfaits pour travailler ou simplement profiter d'un espresso bien préparé. Le soir, l'ambiance change avec du vin et des pizzas au menu, tout en gardant cette atmosphère de boulangerie.
Si je devais faire une critique, les options véganes sont un peu limitées—il y a quelques cookies et vous pouvez rendre le toast aux champignons végane en demandant, mais ne vous attendez pas à un menu entièrement végane. Pourtant, pour un établissement qui se concentre sur le pain, le café et le vin, ils ont touché le but. Une visite vaut le détour si vous êtes dans le quartier de Postbyen.
