Tucked away on Høkerboderne, Prolog is a no-nonsense coffee spot that locals have quietly claimed as their own. The space is tiny—think three or four stools inside—so expect to grab your pour-over and find a spot on the street or head to the Meatpacking district if you need to linger. But what you're here for is the coffee: baristas who actually know their stuff, pulling shots that highlight floral notes in light roasts or deep earth tones in darker blends. Skip the tourist traps and come here for a flat white that actually tastes like coffee, not just milk with a hint of espresso.
A Local's Coffee Gem in Vesterbro
Prolog Coffee Bar is the kind of place you stumble upon when you're exploring Vesterbro and decide to duck in for a coffee. It's small, intimate, and unpretentious—exactly what you want in a neighborhood café. The baristas are clearly passionate about their craft, and you can taste that in every cup. I've had their flat white and pour-over, both of which were exceptional. The flat white had a perfect balance of milk and espresso, while the pour-over showcased bright, floral notes that reminded me of a lighter roast I'd tried in Melbourne.
The space is tiny, with maybe four seats inside, so if you're planning to work or chat for hours, you might want to grab your drink and head to a nearby park or café. But if you're just looking for a high-quality coffee to start your day, this is the place. The almond croissant is also worth trying—flaky, buttery, and not too sweet. It's the kind of spot that feels like a secret among locals, and once you find it, you'll want to keep it that way.
