Trattoria Da Teo is the kind of spot you’ll find tucked away in Trastevere’s labyrinth of streets, where the locals go for unpretentious, heartfelt Roman cooking. The courtyard setting feels like a secret—quiet enough for conversation but lively enough to soak in the neighborhood’s energy. The artichoke a la Giudia is a standout: perfectly fried, never greasy, and a true taste of Jewish-Roman heritage. Their rigatoni carbonara is equally reliable, with rich guanciale and just enough Pecorino to make it sing without overwhelming the pasta.
Service is warm and personal; you’ll likely be greeted by Tiziana herself, who seems to know every regular by name. It’s not fancy, but that’s the point—this is about good food, good company, and the kind of atmosphere that makes you want to linger over dessert.
