Time Out Market Barcelona is the city's first editorially curated food hall, perched on the top floor of the Maremagnum shopping center at Port Vell. Opened in July 2024, it gathers 14 kitchens, a full-service restaurant, four bars, and a bakery under one roof — bringing together big names like Paradiso (2022 World's Best Bar), La Balmesina's 72-hour fermented pizza, and Michelin-starred chefs alongside Catalan staples. The terrace overlooking the marina is the real draw, especially at sunset. It's a slick, crowd-pleasing operation — perfect when your group can't agree on what to eat, but expect mall-level ambiance and tourist-heavy crowds rather than an authentic local food scene.
14 curated kitchens — including Paradiso cocktails and La Balmesina pizza — on a Port Vell terrace with marina sunset views.
Head up around 7pm for a sunset cocktail on the terrace — it gets packed after 8, especially on weekends.
Barcelona's best kitchens under one roof — with a marina view
Time Out Market Barcelona does exactly what it promises: it takes the city's food scene, distills it into 14 curated kitchens, and puts it all on the top floor of the Maremagnum with a terrace overlooking Port Vell. Opened in July 2024 as the first Time Out Market in Spain, it's a massive — over 5,000 square meters — and ambitious operation. You'll find La Balmesina's 72-hour fermented pizza, Paradiso pouring cocktails (they were named World's Best Bar in 2022, so that's no small thing), Mexican, steak, and plenty of Catalan classics. The editorial curation is the selling point: these aren't random vendors, they're hand-picked by Time Out's team.
The food is generally solid across the board, and the cocktail bar is genuinely excellent. Where it falls short is atmosphere — you're still eating in a shopping mall, albeit a very nicely designed one. The crowds skew heavily tourist, and at peak times it can feel like a food court at a cruise terminal. Prices are on the high side for what's essentially counter service.
Go for the terrace at golden hour, grab a Paradiso cocktail and whatever kitchen catches your eye, and treat it as a fun, low-stress way to sample several Barcelona favorites in one sitting. Just don't expect the intimacy or character of a standalone restaurant in El Born or Gràcia. It's open 10am to midnight, seven days a week, which makes it a reliable fallback when everything else is closed or booked.
