The neighbourhood pub Noel Park deserves
If you live anywhere near Noel Park, The Westbury is your default — and frankly, it earns that status. The interior got a refurb a few years back and now reads clean and modern without losing its pub soul. There's a proper beer garden out back, which in N22 is not to be taken for granted. The crowd is a mix of locals who've been coming for years and younger newcomers who've figured out it's the best pint in walking distance.
Food-wise, it punches above what you'd expect from a neighbourhood local. The Sunday roast is the headline act — generous portions, properly cooked meat, and they actually do vegetarian and vegan options that feel like an afterthought rather than a box-tick. The burger-and-pint deal on Mondays and Tuesdays (£17 for a beef, chicken, or Beyond burger with a Brixton Pale or Cruzcampo) is genuinely one of the best value meals in the area. Don't overthink it; just order it.
The Tuesday pub quiz from 8pm is a fixture — book a table or you'll be standing. Live music turns up on the calendar too, and the drinks selection is broader than your average boozer, with real ales, cider, and a wine list that someone has clearly thought about. Si vous habitez du côté de Noel Park, The Westbury est votre pub de quartier par défaut — et il mérite amplement ce statut. L'intérieur a été refait il y a quelques années, c'est propre et moderne sans avoir perdu l'âme du pub. Il y a un vrai beer garden à l'arrière, ce qui dans le N22 n'est pas négligeable. La clientèle mélange les habitués de longue date et les nouveaux venus qui ont compris que c'est le meilleur pint à la ronde.
Côté cuisine, c'est au-dessus de ce qu'on attend d'un pub de quartier. Le Sunday roast est la pièce maîtresse — portions généreuses, viande bien cuite, et des options végétariennes et vegan qui ne font pas remplissage.
