Built as a hotel in the late Victorian era, this Nicholson’s pub delivers a solid, reliable experience with its arts-and-crafts interior, featuring mosaics and moulded paneling that would have made William Morris proud. It’s a go-to for a hearty pub meal or a pint of real ale, though its prime location means it can get a bit of a commuter rush during peak hours.

Un joyau victorien au cœur de Hammersmith
Le Swan est un pub classique victorien qui a traversé les décennies au cœur de Hammersmith. Dès l’entrée, on est saisi par un intérieur grandiose orné de détails arts-and-crafts : mosaïques, panneaux sculptés et une atmosphère historique que peu de pubs modernes peuvent rivaliser. C’est un choix solide pour un repas de pub, avec une carte qui couvre les classiques : poisson et frites, pâtés, dîners rôtis. La sélection de bières est de qualité Nicholson’s, avec un bon choix de real ales au tirage.
Cependant, l’emplacement est un double tranchant. Being right next to both the Circle and District line stations means it gets packed during rush hour and after evening shows at the Hammersmith Apollo. If you’re looking for a quiet pint, go mid-afternoon or early evening. The space is generous with multiple seating areas, so even when busy, you can usually find a spot. It’s not the trendiest spot in town, but it’s exactly the kind of reliable, no-nonsense pub that locals appreciate when they just want a good meal and a proper drink without the pretension.
