This corner pub in Hampton Hill has managed to stay true to what a proper local should be - no gimmicks, no Doom Bar on tap, just good beer and genuine hospitality. Terry runs a tight ship with a friendly team, and the place is decked out with hundreds of antiques that make it feel like you're visiting someone's eccentric aunt's house.
The real ale selection is solid, usually featuring 4-5 casks including some local brews that change every couple of weeks. The food is traditional pub fare without pretension - think proper sandwiches rather than overpriced gourmet sausage rolls. There's a delightful walled garden for summer evenings and a log fire that keeps things toasty on cold days. The only downside is they don't allow children, but honestly, that's part of what makes it such a peaceful adult sanctuary. Cash is preferred for smaller orders, which adds to the old-school charm.
