A proper slow-cafe experience in the heart of Dublin
The Pepper Pot feels like a secret that locals have been keeping to themselves. Perched on a balcony in the Georgian Powerscourt Townhouse, it's got this warm, lived-in charm that you don't find everywhere in Dublin. Marian Kilcoyne clearly puts her heart into this place—everything from the bread to the jams is baked or made in-house, and their commitment to quality shows in every bite. The cream cakes are seriously good, and if you're a coffee person, their single-origin Irish roasts are worth the trip alone.
It's not perfect, though. The space can get cramped during peak brunch hours, and if you're looking for a quick grab-and-go, this isn't it. But that's kind of the point here—it's a place to slow down. The terrace overlooking the courtyard is lovely on nice days, and the staff clearly take pride in what they serve. You'll leave feeling like you've had a proper Dublin café experience, not just another coffee stop.
For what it is, it's a solid 4-star spot. It's not trying to be trendy or Instagram-perfect; it's just doing the basics really well. If you want somewhere that feels authentic and serves food you can actually taste, this is your spot.

Le Pepper Pot, c'est cette adresse que les Dublinois gardent précieusement pour eux. Perchée sur une terrasse dans le historic Powerscourt Townhouse, elle dégage ce charme chaleureux et authentique qu'on ne trouve plus partout. Marian Kilcoyne, la propriétaire, met vraiment son cœur à l'ouvrage : tout est fait maison, du pain aux confitures, et on le sent dans chaque bouchée. Les gâteaux à la crème sont vraiment bons, et si vous êtes amateur de café, leurs grains single-origin irlandais valent le détour.
Ce n'est pas parfait non plus. L'espace peut devenir serré pendant les heures de pointe du brunch, et si vous cherchez quelque chose à emporter rapidement, ce n'est pas l'endroit. Mais c'est exactement le but ici : ralentir. La terrasse donnant sur la cour est agréable quand il fait beau, et le personnel semble vraiment fier de ce qu'il sert. Vous repartirez avec l'impression d'avoir vécu une vraie expérience café irlandaise.
Pour ce qu'il est, c'est un établissement solide de 4 étoiles. Il ne cherche pas à être tendance ou parfait pour Instagram ; il se contente simplement de bien faire les choses. Si vous voulez un endroit authentique avec de la nourriture qu'on peut vraiment goûter, c'est là qu'il faut aller.
