L'ambiance

The Oak is that kind of local pub you stumble upon and instantly want to make your regular haunt. Tucked away just outside Kingston town centre on Richmond Road, it might not scream for attention from the street, but step inside and you'll find a warm, welcoming space where the staff genuinely care about making you feel at home. Whether you're grabbing a Greek wrap, diving into their extensive wine list, or catching a live music night, it's the kind of spot that feels like a community hub rather than just another chain. The vibe is relaxed and unpretentious—perfect for unwinding after work or catching up with mates over a pint. The food is surprisingly solid for a pub, especially the street food-inspired wraps and pizzas, and the live music adds a nice buzz without turning it into a crowded nightclub. Just don't expect it to be open late on weekdays; it's more of an early-evening hangout that closes its doors by midnight most nights.

A Local Favorite with Genuine Charm

The Oak is one of those pubs that feels like a well-kept secret in Kingston. From the moment you walk in, the staff make you feel like a regular, even if it's your first visit. The atmosphere is relaxed and unpretentious, with a mix of locals and occasional visitors looking for a good pint and decent grub. The Greek wraps and pizzas are surprisingly good for pub food, and the live music nights add a nice energy without turning it into a rowdy nightspot. It's not the flashiest place in town, but it's got that genuine local charm that's hard to find these days.

If you're looking for a spot to unwind after work or catch up with friends over a glass of wine or a freshly mixed cocktail, this is it. The staff really do go the extra mile, and the selection of drinks is impressive for a neighborhood pub. The only downside is that it's a bit tucked away—you might walk right past it if you're not paying attention—and the opening hours can be inconsistent, so it's worth checking before you head out. But if you're in the area, it's absolutely worth a visit.
