L'ambiance
Tucked under the Kentish Town West rail lines, The Fields Beneath is a plant-powered haven that's been quietly winning over locals since 2012. Skip the generic café fare here—this is where you'll find roasted tofu wraps with chilli crisp, oyster mushroom gyros that actually satisfy, and coffee sourced directly from Costa Rica. It's the kind of spot where the staff know your order and the community feels real.

A Plant-Powered Kentish Town Favorite
The Fields Beneath is exactly the kind of café that makes you want to live in Kentish Town. Located right under the train tracks, it has this unpretentious charm that you don't find everywhere. The coffee is genuinely excellent—sourced directly from a friend in Costa Rica, which you can taste in the quality.
Food-wise, they've nailed the vegan game without trying too hard. The mushroom gyro is a standout—Lebanese-style flatbread loaded with oyster mushrooms, spiced potato, and their house tahini. The tofu wrap with chilli crisp and sesame tahini is another winner if you're in the mood for something crunchy and flavorful. Everything's made from scratch, and you can tell they care about what they're serving.
It's not flashy, but that's the point. This is a neighborhood café where regulars know each other, the staff remember your order, and you can actually have a conversation without shouting. Perfect for a quiet breakfast before work or a casual lunch with a friend.
