L'ambiance

Tucked away on Field Lane in Strawberry Hill, The Builders Arms is the kind of traditional pub that still feels like home. Established in 1875 for local tradesmen, it's got that old-school charm with real log fires, a sun trap beer garden, and three locally sourced cask ales on pump. It's not flashy, but it's exactly what you want in a neighborhood pub—friendly staff, a proper pint, and a community that actually shows up. The place draws a mix of locals and visitors from nearby Bushy Park and Teddington Lock, so you'll find yourself chatting with regulars over a game of darts or just enjoying a quiet drink by the fire. It's not about fancy cocktails or Instagram-worthy plating; it's about solid beer, good company, and that warm, welcoming feel you don't find everywhere anymore.

A proper neighborhood pub with character

The Builders Arms is a proper old-school pub that hasn't lost its soul. You walk in and it feels like stepping back in time—two real log fires crackling away, darts on the wall, and a beer garden that actually catches the sun (a rare find in London). The staff are genuinely friendly, and the three locally sourced cask ales on pump are a nice touch for anyone who appreciates real ale.

It's not the fanciest spot in town, and you won't find a wine list that goes on for pages, but that's not the point. This is a neighborhood pub where locals actually come to hang out, chat with the regulars, and enjoy a proper pint without any fuss. If you're near Teddington Station or Bushy Park and want a place that feels like it belongs to the community, this is it.

The only downside is it's not open late—closes at 11pm most nights—but for a relaxed evening drink or a quiet pint after a walk in the park, it's hard to beat.
