L'ambiance

Tucked away in Milan's Municipio 2, Sambuus Milano is your ticket to authentic Somali flavors that you won't find just anywhere. The place pulls you in with its warm, welcoming atmosphere where the staff genuinely makes you feel like family. You'll want to come hungry because the anjera with meat is a standout—perfectly spiced and served with that traditional sourdough flatbread that sets the tone for the whole meal. What really sets this spot apart is how the chef personally guides you through the menu, making it perfect for first-timers curious about Somali cuisine. The tea service is a nice touch that rounds out the experience, and honestly, the whole vibe feels more like a friend's dinner party than a restaurant. It's not flashy, but the food and hospitality are genuine enough to make you want to keep coming back.

Authentic Somali flavors in Milan's hidden corner

Sambuus Milano is a genuine find in Milan's Municipio 2, offering an authentic taste of Somali cuisine that feels far removed from the typical Italian restaurant scene. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, with staff who genuinely care about your experience—especially the chef who takes time to explain dishes and help you navigate the menu. The anjera with meat is a must-try, perfectly spiced and served with that traditional flatbread that's both satisfying and educational.

What I appreciated most was how the place doesn't try to be anything it's not—it's casual, unpretentious, and focused on the food. The tea service is a nice touch that adds to the cultural experience, and the friendly staff makes you feel comfortable even if you've never tried Somali food before. It's not the fanciest spot in Milan, but for authentic flavors and genuine hospitality, it's hard to beat.
