Solid neighborhood brasserie with honest food

Royal VI Nation is the kind of brasserie that locals actually return to—not because it's trendy, but because it just works. You'll find yourself drawn to the straightforward menu: hearty burgers that don't skimp on meat, entrecôtes cooked properly, and salads that feel fresh rather than an afterthought. The desserts, particularly the mille-feuille aux fruits rouges according to regulars, are genuinely worth saving room for. What really sets it apart is the service—generous staff who remember you and often throw in a free digestif or coffee. Yes, there's a tabac/vape/CBD counter in the back, which gives it that authentic Parisian neighborhood feel, but it doesn't detract from the dining experience.

The terrace on Place de la Nation is perfect for people-watching, especially in good weather. Prices are very reasonable for the location, and if you're looking for a quick bite, their takeaway snacks like paninis and waffles are surprisingly good. The only real downside is the occasional smoke drift from the smoking terrace, which can bother some diners. But for a no-nonsense meal in the 11ème that doesn't pretend to be something it's not, this brasserie delivers exactly what it promises.
