Historic Schnitzel Haven with Turbulent Service
Borchardt is a Berlin legend, and for good reason. The Wiener Schnitzel is arguably the best in the city—thinly pounded, perfectly crispy, and served with potato salad or fries. You’ll feel like you’ve stepped back in time as you sit among the ornate mirrors, chandeliers, and portraits of former guests. It’s the kind of place where you might spot a politician or a movie star, though the crowds can make it feel more like a circus than a fine dining experience. Service is hit-or-miss; some waiters are efficient and friendly, while others seem overwhelmed by the rush. The bathrooms are in dire need of renovation, which is a shame given the otherwise well-maintained interior. Still, if you’re here for the schnitzel and the history, it’s worth the visit. Just go early or late to avoid the worst of the crowds.

Le Borchardt est une institution berlinoise, et ce n’est pas pour rien. Le Wiener Schnitzel est probablement le meilleur de la ville—mince, croustillant, servi avec une salade de pommes de terre ou des frites. On se croirait dans le passé entre les miroirs ornés, les lustres et les portraits d’anciens clients. C’est le genre d’endroit où l’on peut croiser un politicien ou une star, même si la foule donne parfois l’impression d’un cirque plutôt que d’un restaurant gastronomique. Le service est aléatoire : certains serveurs sont efficaces et sympathiques, d’autres semblent débordés. Les toilettes ont besoin d’une rénovation urgente, ce qui est dommage étant donné l’intérieur bien entretenu. Néanmoins, si vous venez pour le schnitzel et l’histoire, cela vaut le détour. Évitez les heures de pointe pour moins de bousculade.
