L'ambiance

The Prince of Wales on Green Lane is the kind of traditional pub that locals actually love – a "dying breed" where you can bring the whole family without feeling out of place. It's got all the classic pub elements you'd expect: sports on the TV, a dartboard, and a proper beer garden, but what really sets it apart is the genuine community vibe. Landlord David Christoff won the Ilford Recorder's Hospitality Hero award for keeping things safe during lockdown, and you can feel that care in the atmosphere. Skip the tourist traps and come here for a proper pint in a place where regulars know each other by name. It's not fancy, but it's authentic – the kind of spot that's become a neighborhood institution since the 1930s.

A proper local pub with heart

The Prince of Wales is exactly what you'd hope for in a local pub – unpretentious, welcoming, and steeped in genuine community spirit. Located on Green Lane just a short walk from Seven Kings station, this 1880s building has been serving as a pub since the 1930s, and you can tell it's seen its fair share of regulars over the decades. What really sets it apart is the family-friendly atmosphere that's increasingly rare these days. You'll find families with kids, locals grabbing a pint after work, and everyone from teenagers playing darts to grandparents enjoying a quiet drink.

The beer garden is a real highlight in warmer months, and the interior has that classic pub feel with sports always on the TV – perfect for catching a match with a pint in hand. Landlord David Christoff's dedication to the community really shows, especially after he won the Ilford Recorder's Hospitality Hero award for keeping things safe during lockdown. The staff clearly care about their regulars, and that translates into a warm, welcoming vibe that makes you want to come back. It's not going to win any awards for fancy cocktails or gourmet food, but that's not what this place is about. It's about being a proper neighborhood pub where you feel like part of the family.
