L'ambiance

Petit Jaja is the cozy sibling to the famous JaJa across the street, trading the big wine boards for a more intimate à la carte experience. You'll find yourself drawn to their counter seating where the staff knows their wines by heart and can guide you through their 200+ bottle selection. The croque monsieur à la truffe is a must-try—rich, indulgent, and exactly the kind of comfort food that makes you want to linger over your second glass. What sets Petit Jaja apart is the chef's rotating plates designed for sharing, from roasted cauliflower to prime beef cuts that could easily feed a small group. It's the kind of place where you come for the wine and stay because you can't stop talking about how good the food is. The Vieux-Lille location puts you right in the heart of things, but the vibe feels like a well-kept secret among locals who know to skip the main restaurant and head across the street instead.

Wine bar with serious food credentials

Petit Jaja is what happens when a wine bar decides it's time to get serious about food. Located just across from the original JaJa, this smaller sibling trades the big boards for an à la carte menu that punches well above its weight. You'll want to claim one of the counter seats—watching the kitchen work while sipping from their impressive wine list (200+ bottles, many by the glass) is half the experience.

The croque monsieur à la truffe is the star here. It's not your average grilled cheese; this thing is decadent, with layers of truffle-infused béchamel and quality ham that melts into something truly special. Pair it with a glass of their rotating wine selection and you've got yourself a perfect evening. The chef's plates change regularly, but the roasted cauliflower and beef options are consistently solid choices for sharing.

It's not a place you rush through. The intimate space, friendly staff who actually know their wines, and the focus on quality over quantity make this a spot worth seeking out if you're in Vieux-Lille. Just remember—it's closed Sundays and Mondays, so plan accordingly.
