L'ambiance

Pastamadre isn't your typical pasta shop—it's a warm, neighborhood spot where former photojournalist Francesco Costanzo brings Mediterranean flavors to Porta Romana. The space feels like a living room, with reclaimed materials, hand-drawn walls, and a menu that celebrates simple, honest cooking. You'll find housemade pasta, conscious seafood and meat from places like Nebrodi, and a serious natural wine list that changes with the seasons.

A Neighborhood Gem with Mediterranean Soul

Pastamadre feels like a secret the locals have been keeping—a neighborhood restaurant that somehow manages to be both unpretentious and genuinely special. Francesco Costanzo, a former photojournalist turned chef, has created a space that's equal parts home kitchen and curated gallery. The interiors are warm and textured, with reclaimed wood, hand-painted walls, and handmade ceramics that give the place real character.

The food is straightforward but thoughtful—housemade pasta that's cooked perfectly, seasonal seafood that follows the rhythm of the Mediterranean, and meats sourced from places like Nebrodi that you can actually taste the care in. It's not fancy in a flashy way; it's fancy in the way your favorite aunt's cooking is fancy—simple ingredients, done right. The natural wine list is where things get really interesting, with rotating labels from Italy and beyond that change the experience every time you visit.

It's the kind of place you'll want to make a regular stop at—whether you're grabbing a quick lunch or settling in for a leisurely dinner with friends. The neighborhood vibe means you'll feel like you belong here, not like you're just another tourist.
