Paris Bar sneaks up on you — it's not trying to be the most exciting restaurant in Farringdon, but it's quietly become one of those go-to spots for reliable French food without the pretension. The split-level design is clever: start at the bar with a cocktail and some nibbles while soaking in the brick arches and red stools, then head downstairs for the main event. The food is solidly French without being fussy — the fillet steak sandwich is a proper lunch hero, and the confit duck croquettes with plum chutney are the kind of small plate that makes you want to order three.
The wine list spans France nicely from Burgundy to Bordeaux, and the staff seem genuinely knowledgeable rather than just reciting prices. Live jazz on weekends adds atmosphere without being too loud, and the space works for everything from a quick solo drink to a proper dinner with friends. It's not perfect — the menu is fairly limited if you're looking for something adventurous — but for classic French bistro fare in a setting that feels authentically Parisian, it's hard to beat in this part of London.

Paris Bar est le genre d'endroit qui vous surprend agréablement — pas la plus excitante adresse de Farringdon, mais devenu l'un de mes repères pour une cuisine française fiable sans prétention. La disposition sur deux niveaux est intelligente : commencez au bar avec un cocktail et quelques amuse-bouches en profitant des arches en briques et des tabourets rouges, puis descendez pour le plat principal. La cuisine est solidement française sans être guindée — le sandwich au filet de bœuf est un vrai héros du déjeuner, et les croquettes de confit de canard avec chutney de prune sont ces petites assiettes qui vous font en commander trois.
La carte des vins couvre bien la France de la Bourgogne à Bordeaux, et le personnel semble vraiment compétent plutôt que de simplement réciter les prix. La musique jazz live le week-end ajoute de l'ambiance sans être trop bruyant, et l'espace fonctionne pour tout, d'un verre solo rapide à un dîner complet entre amis. Ce n'est pas parfait — la carte est assez limitée si vous cherchez quelque chose d'audacieux — mais pour une cuisine bistrot française classique dans un cadre qui semble authentiquement parisien, il est difficile de faire mieux dans cette partie de Londres.
Si vous cherchez quelque chose de spécial, réservez à l'avance. Le restaurant accepte les sans-réservation mais vous attendrez probablement, et la salle de restaurant en bas se remplit vite le week-end. C'est devenu un favori local pour une raison — nourriture constante, bon service, et une ambiance qui ne force pas trop.
