L'ambiance

Tucked on Kärntner Straße, Nihonbashi delivers some of Vienna’s most authentic Japanese fare without the pretension. You’ll find expertly crafted sushi and sashimi here, but don’t sleep on their warm dishes like the Kurodai Gozen (gold sea bream) or the comforting butakakuni daikon zoe (braised pork belly with radish). The real kicker? They’ve got discrete karaoke booths with over 30,000 songs if you want to turn dinner into a singalong—very Tokyo, very Vienna.

Authentic Japanese in the City Center

Nihonbashi is the kind of place you’ll find yourself returning to because it just gets everything right. The sushi is fresh and precise, but what really sets it apart is how they handle their warm dishes—the Kurodai Gozen is a standout, and the tempura is light and crispy without being greasy. The staff are friendly without being overbearing, and the atmosphere strikes that perfect balance between traditional and welcoming.

If you’re looking for a quiet lunch spot in the city center, this is it. They do a solid lunch menu, and if you want to stretch things out, the karaoke booths are a fun twist. It’s not flashy, but it’s consistently good, which in Vienna is worth more than a Michelin star sometimes.
