The unassuming brick facade hides a craft beer paradise with over 20 taps and 80+ bottles, curated by Vancouver expats Jenia and Corbin who brought their passion for diverse brews to this multicultural neighborhood. Skip the usual IPA crowd here—you’ll find everything from Czech pilsners and Belgian sours to barrel-aged imperial stouts, all served with knowledgeable staff who’ll guide you through the selection. The vibe is relaxed and social, with board games available in German and English for those who want to linger over a second round. Outside seating is perfect for people-watching in warmer months, and the BYO food policy means you can grab a snack from nearby spots like the Turkish bakery down the street or that amazing kebab place around the corner. Neukölln’s Craft Beer Haven
Muted Horn is exactly the kind of neighborhood bar that makes Berlin special. You walk past it every day without noticing—the neon sign is the only thing that gives it away—but once you step inside, you’re in a different world. The beer selection is genuinely impressive: I’ve tried at least 15 different beers here over the past year, and every single one was interesting, even the sours that I usually avoid. The staff actually knows their stuff and will happily talk you through options without being pretentious about it.
What sets this place apart is the diversity of the beer list. You won’t just find the usual West Coast IPAs everyone else serves—you’ll discover Czech pilsners, Belgian tripels, wild ales, and barrel-aged stouts that you can’t get anywhere else in the neighborhood. The tap takeovers are a real highlight; last summer they had an entire week of beers I’d never heard of, and they were all fantastic. The BYO food policy is also a nice touch—it means you can grab a quick bite from the surrounding spots without being stuck with overpriced bar food.
It’s not perfect. The location is a bit hard to find if you don’t know what you’re looking for, and the opening hours can be limited on weekdays. But for a serious beer drinker who wants to explore beyond the mainstream, this is Neukölln’s best option. I come here at least once a month, and I always leave with a new favorite beer to try at home.

Muted Horn est exactement ce genre de bar de quartier qui rend Berlin si spécial. Vous le croisez tous les jours sans y prêter attention—le seul indice, c’est le néon—but une fois à l’intérieur, vous êtes dans un autre monde. La sélection de bières est vraiment impressionnante : j’en ai essayé au moins 15 différentes ici au cours de la dernière année, et chacune était intéressante, même les bières acides que j’évite généralement. Le personnel sait vraiment de quoi il parle et pourra vous guider sans être prétentieux.
Ce qui distingue cet endroit, c’est la diversité de la liste. Vous ne trouverez pas seulement les IPA occidentales habituelles que tout le monde sert—vous découvrirez des pilsners tchèques, des tripels belges, des ales sauvages et des stout vieillis en fût que vous ne pouvez pas trouver ailleurs dans le quartier. Les tap takeovers sont un vrai point fort : l’été dernier, ils avaient une semaine entière de bières que je n’avais jamais entendues, et toutes étaient fantastiques. La politique BYO food est aussi une bonne touche—ça signifie que vous pouvez prendre un petit quelque chose dans les environs sans être coincé avec de la nourriture de bar surtaxée.
Ce n’est pas parfait. L’emplacement est un peu difficile à trouver si vous ne savez pas ce que vous cherchez, et les horaires d’ouverture peuvent être limités en semaine. Mais pour un buveur de bière sérieux qui veut explorer au-delà du mainstream, c’est la meilleure option de Neukölln. J’y viens au moins une fois par mois, et je repars toujours avec une nouvelle bière préférée à essayer à la maison.
