Ma-Tine
“Matches your preference for quiet, immersive environments. This venue's atmosphere aligns with your saved favorites.”
L'ambiance
Tucked away on Rue des Bouchers in Vieux-Lille, Ma-Tine (formerly Chez Paulette) is the kind of neighborhood bar where you'll feel like you've stumbled onto a local secret. This spot has maintained its reputation as a welcoming space with a friendly, unpretentious vibe that's become a cornerstone of Lille's social scene. The prices are refreshingly honest—pints for 3.50€ and cocktails at 6€—making it perfect for a relaxed evening without breaking the bank. What sets Ma-Tine apart is its genuine warmth and the way it's embraced by the community. Whether you're catching up with friends after work, celebrating a birthday, or just looking for a place to unwind with a drink, you'll find yourself at home here. The bar has a terrace for summer evenings, and when the music kicks in, there's enough energy to keep things lively without getting chaotic.

Lille's Friendly Neighborhood Bar
Ma-Tine has been a staple in Vieux-Lille for years, and it's easy to see why. The bar strikes a perfect balance between lively and relaxed—you can chat comfortably with friends while still feeling the energy of the place. The staff is genuinely friendly, and the drinks are reasonably priced, which is rare these days. I particularly appreciate that they've kept the original charm while updating the space just enough to feel modern without losing its character.
The location on Rue des Bouchers is ideal—right in the heart of the old town but tucked away enough to feel like your own little spot. On Thursday through Saturday nights, the atmosphere really comes alive, and if you're lucky, you might catch some live music or karaoke on their stage. The terrace is a nice bonus in warmer months. It's not fancy, but that's exactly the point. This is a place where locals go to be themselves, and that authenticity is what makes it special.
