Solid steak near the station with real charm
Loetje Centraal is the kind of place that manages to be both a tourist magnet and a local favorite—a rare combo in Amsterdam. You walk in expecting the usual station-area tourist trap, but instead you get genuinely good steak in a setting that actually feels authentic. The historic building with its Delft blue tiles and canal views is a real treat, especially if you snag a spot on the terrace. The steak itself is consistently well-executed: tender, properly seasoned, and served with that signature rich jus and soft white bread that's become their trademark.
It's not perfect, though. The location means it's always busy, especially during peak hours, and the service can feel rushed when they're swamped with travelers. Prices are higher than your average Dutch eatery, but you're paying for the location and the quality of the meat. Still, if you're looking for a reliable, quality meal right near the station without having to venture far, this is your best bet. Just go with the expectation that you're paying a bit extra for the address.

Loetje Centraal est ce genre d'endroit qui arrive à être à la fois une attraction touristique et un favori des locaux — un combo rare à Amsterdam. On entre en s'attendant à la trappe habituelle près de la gare, mais on retrouve une vraie bonne steak dans un cadre qui a du charme. Le bâtiment historique avec ses carreaux de Delft et ses vues sur les canaux est un vrai plaisir, surtout si on trouve une place sur la terrasse. Le steak lui-même est constamment bien exécuté : tendre, correctement assaisonné, et servi avec cette sauce riche signature et le pain blanc mou qui est devenu leur marque de fabrique.
Ce n'est pas parfait, pourtant. L'emplacement signifie qu'il est toujours bondé, surtout aux heures de pointe, et le service peut sembler précipité quand ils sont submergés de voyageurs. Les prix sont plus élevés que la moyenne des restos néerlandais, mais on paie pour l'emplacement et la qualité de la viande. Pourtant, si vous cherchez un repas fiable et de qualité juste près de la gare sans avoir à aller loin, c'est votre meilleure option. Juste allez avec l'attente que vous payez un peu plus cher pour l'adresse.
