Kleines Café is a quintessential Viennese coffeehouse experience, compact and unpretentious. You’ll find yourself squeezed into a corner seat with a warm Melange and a slice of their solid Sachertorte. The location on Franziskanerplatz is unbeatable for a quick pause while exploring the Innere Stadt, and the terrace is a lovely bonus in summer.
That said, don’t expect five-star service. The staff can be brisk to the point of rudeness, especially if you’re trying to squeeze in a late-night cake run. Some visitors have complained about the closing times not matching what’s listed online. But for a genuine, no-frills café with great coffee and a slice of cinematic history, it’s worth the visit. Just go in with realistic expectations—and maybe bring cash.

Le Kleines Café est une expérience de café viennois classique, intime et sans chichis. Vous vous retrouverez coincé dans un coin avec un Melange bien chaud et une part de leur Sachertorre solide. L’emplacement sur la Franziskanerplatz est idéal pour une pause rapide en explorant la ville intérieure, et la terrasse est un vrai plus en été.
Cela dit, n’attendez pas un service cinq étoiles. Le personnel peut être bref, voire un peu rude, surtout si vous essayez de glisser une part de gâteau tard le soir. Certains visiteurs se sont plaints que les heures de fermeture ne correspondent pas à ce qui est indiqué en ligne. Mais pour un café authentique, sans chichis, avec un bon café et une touche d’histoire cinématographique, c’est une visite qui vaut le coup. Juste, allez-y les yeux grands ouverts et avec du cash.
