Solid local brewery with great house brews
Hops & Barley feels like the kind of place locals have been coming to for years—no frills, just solid beer and good vibes. The fact that they brew everything on-site means you're getting fresh, unfiltered beer with real character. I've tried their Pilsner and Dunkel, both solid, though the Pilsner leans a bit sweet for my taste. The cider is excellent, especially if you like it natural and cloudy. They also have a rotating special beer, so there's always something new to try if you're a craft beer nerd.
The atmosphere is casual and welcoming, perfect for hanging out with a group or just chilling after work. They show Bundesliga and Champions League matches on big screens, which draws in the soccer fans, especially Borussia Mönchengladbach supporters who apparently have their own smoking room area. The snacks are simple but tasty—the Flammkuchen and Mexican peanut mix are decent bar food. It's not fancy, but it's authentic, and that's what makes it worth visiting.

Hops & Barley, c'est l'adresse que les locaux fréquentent depuis des années. Une vraie brasserie artisanale dans un ancien boucher, sans chichis, juste de la bonne bière et une ambiance décontractée. Ils brassent tout sur place depuis 2008, donc vous avez des bières fraîches, non filtrées, avec du caractère. J'ai goûté leur Pilsner et leur Dunkel, tous deux corrects, même si le Pilsner est un peu trop sucré à mon goût. Le cidre est excellent, surtout s'il est naturel et trouble.
L'ambiance est conviviale, parfaite pour sortir entre amis ou se détendre après le travail. Ils diffusent les matchs de Bundesliga et de Ligue des Champions sur de grands écrans, ce qui attire les fans de foot, surtout les supporters du Borussia Mönchengladbach qui ont même leur propre espace fumeur. Les snacks sont simples mais bons—le Flammkuchen et le mélange de cacahuètes mexicaines sont sympas pour grignoter. Ce n'est pas luxueux, mais c'est authentique, et c'est ça qui compte.
