Green Man
“Matches your preference for quiet, immersive environments. This venue's atmosphere aligns with your saved favorites.”
L'ambiance
Perched on Putney Heath, The Green Man feels like a proper suburban pub that hasn't lost its soul to gentrification. You'll find dog walkers, locals, and anyone needing a proper Sunday roast in equal measure. The garden is genuinely the star here—sun-dappled and perfect for those rosé-fueled afternoons when the weather finally decides to cooperate. Their seasonal British menu hits the sweet spot between traditional pub classics and contemporary touches, with Sunday roasts that are actually worth the wait. The spritz selection is spot-on for summer, and the real ales keep things interesting for the more traditional pint drinkers. It's not fancy, and that's exactly why it works. No pretension, just good food, decent drinks, and a community vibe that's becoming rarer by the day.

A proper neighborhood pub that gets it right
The Green Man on Wildcroft Road is the kind of pub that feels like it's been here forever and will still be here in another hundred years. You walk in and immediately feel like you're among friends—the staff know regulars by name, the dog walkers have their usual spots, and there's a genuine sense of community that's hard to fake. The garden is the real star, especially in summer when you can sit outside with a spritz and watch the world go by while the kids run around (they're clearly used to it).
Food-wise, they're doing proper British pub fare without trying too hard. The Sunday roast is solid—meat is well-cooked, vegetables are fresh, and the Yorkshire puddings actually puff up. The seasonal menu keeps things interesting, and I've had some great small plates that are perfect for grazing. The drinks selection is what you'd expect from a Youngs pub: solid real ales, good wines, and spritzes that don't taste like they came from a bottle.
It's not going to win any awards for innovation, but that's not the point. This is a neighborhood pub that does what it does well, and that's enough. Whether you're here for a quick pint after work or a leisurely Sunday lunch with the family, The Green Man delivers on the basics without any pretension.
