L'ambiance

FILTR isn't your average village café—it's a mission-driven coffee shop that proves sustainability and style can coexist. Located in the leafy enclave of Sanderstead, this Coromandel Coast outpost serves specialty coffee roasted in their own Chipstead facility, paired with an all-day menu of decadent vegan treats. The real magic? They've built a conscious lifestyle hub where you can grab a flat white, snag a freshly baked vegan brownie, and stock up on zero-waste pantry staples—all in one stop. The vibe is effortlessly local and welcoming, with staff who clearly care about what they serve. Skip the generic chain coffee and come for the traceable, shade-grown beans and the kind of plant-based pastries that make vegans and non-vegans alike do a double-take. It's the kind of place where you'll linger over your latte, browse the curated selection of small-batch condiments, and actually feel good about your purchase.

Sustainable Coffee Done Right

FILTR has quietly become my go-to spot in Sanderstead, and not just because they serve some of the best vegan brownies I've had outside of London. The coffee is properly speciality—roasted in their own facility with renewable energy—and you can taste the care in every cup. What sets it apart is the ethos: everything from the packaging to the pastries is thoughtfully sourced, and the staff genuinely care about making sure you leave feeling good about your choices.

The space itself is small but packed with character. There's a warm, unpretentious energy here, with shelves lined with zero-waste goods and small-batch products that make great gifts. On weekends, it gets busy with locals who clearly know what they're doing—grab a table early if you want to sit and people-watch. The only downside? Parking can be tricky on Limpsfield Road, so factor in a bit of walking time. But honestly, it's worth it to support a business that's doing things right.
