L'ambiance
Ffiona's has been a Kensington institution since 1993, serving up genuinely warm hospitality and solid British comfort food that feels like home. The sisters behind it—Ffiona and Althea—are always on hand to make you feel like part of the family, whether you're grabbing a weekend brunch or settling in for a pre-theatre dinner near the Royal Albert Hall. They've been voted "Best Restaurant in Kensington 2024," and honestly, that Chicken Kyiv is legendary for a reason. The vibe is unpretentious and cozy, perfect for catching up with friends or enjoying a proper Sunday roast without the fancy pretense. It's one of those places that feels like it's been here forever and will keep being here forever—which in London is basically a badge of honor.

A Kensington Institution with Heart
Ffiona's feels like a proper neighborhood institution that's somehow managed to stay authentic for over three decades. The Chicken Kyiv is genuinely one of the best I've had in London—crispy outside, perfectly molten inside, and served with that homey touch you don't get at fancier spots. The Sunday roast is solid too, with proper Yorkshire pudding and meat that actually tastes like it was cooked with care rather than mass-produced.
The atmosphere is exactly what you'd want from a local gem: warm, unpretentious, and filled with regulars who clearly feel at home here. The sisters running the show genuinely care about making guests feel welcome, which is rare these days. It's not the most exciting place in London, but sometimes you just want good food and a warm welcome without the pretense—and that's exactly what Ffiona's delivers.
