Eagle London has been a Vauxhall institution since 2004, and it's easy to see why locals keep coming back. The bar struck the right balance between a proper pub atmosphere and a proper gay venue – you get the comfortable lounge setting and friendly bartenders without the pretension you might find elsewhere. The outdoor patio is a real winner, especially on warmer evenings when you can grab a drink and people-watch while smoking.
The themed nights are where things really come alive. Horse Meat Disco on Sundays is consistently packed and fun, drawing a diverse crowd that stays until closing. The 80:20 retro nights on the third Saturday are also solid if you're into that era. However, be aware that the vibe can shift depending on which night you visit – some weekends are more about the party, while others are more about the chat.
What sets Eagle apart is its authenticity. It's not trying to be something it's not, and that's refreshing in a city full of overpriced, overhyped venues.
