De Kop van Oost is one of those rare spots in Amsterdam that actually delivers on the view promise. Located right on the water’s edge, you get uninterrupted views of the IJ and the city’s only remaining windmill in the center—something you won’t find at every restaurant. The atmosphere is casual and welcoming, drawing a mix of locals and visitors who want good food without the tourist trap feel.
The modern European menu is straightforward but executed well. The chicken starter is a standout—tender, flavorful, and perfectly plated. Service is friendly and unhurried, which makes it easy to settle in for a few hours. Situé directement au bord de l’eau, vous bénéficiez d’une vue dégagée sur l’IJ et du seul moulin de la ville en centre-ville, quelque chose que l’on ne trouve pas dans tous les restaurants. L’ambiance est décontractée et accueillante, attirant un mélange de locaux et de visiteurs qui cherchent une bonne nourriture sans l’effet piège à touristes.
La carte moderne européenne est simple mais bien exécutée. L’entrée au poulet est un point fort—tendre, savoureuse et parfaitement présentée.
