The moment you walk in, you're hit with this incredible sense of history—the original 1907 circus-themed ceramic frieze and those glass-pressed ceiling panels are just stunning. But don't let the decor distract you from the food, which is genuinely excellent. The amberjack crudo was perfectly fresh with bright citrus notes, and the beef dish with chanterelles was so tender it practically melted on the fork.
The wine list is where this place really shines though. If you're into natural wines, you'll find yourself lost in the possibilities. The staff clearly knows their stuff and will happily guide you through selections. Le Clown Bar est ce genre d'endroit qu'on découvre par hasard et dont on ne peut pas s'empêcher de parler à tous ses amis. Dès l'entrée, on est saisi par cette atmosphère historique—the frise en céramique de 1907 avec ses clowns d'origine et ces plafonds sous verre sont tout simplement magnifiques. Mais ne vous laissez pas distraire par le décor, la cuisine est vraiment excellente. Le crudo de dorade était parfaitement frais avec des notes d'agrumes lumineuses, et le bœuf aux cèpes était si tendre qu'il fondait littéralement en bouche.
La carte des vins est là où l'établissement brille vraiment. Si vous aimez les vins naturels, vous vous perdrez avec plaisir dans les possibilités. Le personnel s'y connaît visiblement et saura vous guider avec plaisir. Ce n'est pas un endroit flashy et sur-kiffé—juste une cuisine bistrot française honnête et bien exécutée dans un cadre qui donne l'impression de remonter le temps.
