Café Mozart sits in a prime spot right across from the Staatsoper, and it shows in both the clientele and the ambiance. This isn't one of those overhyped tourist traps—you're more likely to find opera singers, business people, and locals who've been coming here for decades. The interior is beautifully preserved with classic Viennese touches: ornate details, marble tables, and that warm, old-world coffeehouse feeling that's becoming harder to find.
The food and drinks are solid traditional fare. The Sacher Torte is as good as you'd expect, and the Kaiserschmarrn is a must-try if you're feeling adventurous. Coffee is properly prepared, and the Obers know their stuff—they'll recommend something based on your mood and make you feel like you belong. The Schanigarten (outdoor terrace) is especially nice in warmer months, and yes, it's the same one featured in "The Third Man," which adds a nice cinematic touch.
