Café Majestic is Porto's crown jewel of historic cafés, a breathtaking Art Nouveau space that has been drawing visitors since the 1920s. The interior is absolutely stunning—curved wooden frames, large mirrors, gilded details, and a winter garden that feels frozen in time. It's no wonder JK Rowling found inspiration here while living in Porto.
However, be prepared for the reality: this is a major tourist destination, and the prices reflect that. A double espresso can set you back 9 euros, which is steep even by Porto standards. The hot chocolate is just okay, nothing special. But the Rabanada Majestic—the café's signature French toast—is the real star. Golden brown, soaked in egg cream, topped with raisins, pignoli, and walnuts, it's worth every cent. The place is often packed, so expect to wait for a table, but the atmosphere alone makes it worthwhile.
