Café Azzurro is the newest sibling from the Kommod team, and it's clear they've poured the same attention to detail into this Neubau spot. The space itself is a breath of fresh air—literally sky-blue walls that create a light, airy atmosphere unlike most Vienna restaurants. It's an evening-only concept, opening at 6 PM, which immediately sets a different tone than the typical all-day café.
The food is where Azzurro truly shines. Dishes are thoughtfully composed with surprising flavor combinations that feel both refined and approachable. The bread alone is worth the visit—crusty, warm, and seemingly homemade. Portions lean on the smaller side, but each bite is intentional. Café Azzurro est le tout nouveau frère cadet de l'équipe Kommod, et on sent immédiatement qu'ils ont appliqué la même exigence à ce restaurant du 7e arrondissement. L'espace est une véritable bouffée d'air frais—des murs bleu ciel qui créent une atmosphère lumineuse et légère, bien différente de la plupart des restaurants viennois. Ouvert uniquement le soir à partir de 18h, le concept impose d'emblée un rythme différent du café traditionnel ouvert toute la journée.
La cuisine est la grande force d'Azzurro. Les plats sont soigneusement composés avec des associations de saveurs surprenantes qui semblent à la fois raffinées et accessibles. Le pain seul vaut le détour—croustillant, chaud, visiblement fait maison. Les portions sont plutôt petites, mais chaque bouchée est travaillée. La carte des vins est tout aussi impressionnante, avec des sélections qui s'accordent parfaitement avec le menu. Le service est attentif sans être envahissant.
