Authentic brewery beer hall under a windmill
This place is a proper Amsterdam institution—situated right under a working windmill, you can't get more authentic than that. The beer selection is solid, with their own brews on tap and a good mix of seasonal offerings. The atmosphere is genuinely local, with regulars filling up the long tables and a relaxed vibe that doesn't feel forced or touristy. The terrace in summer is a real gem, perfect for lingering over a few pints while watching the world go by along the water.
What sets it apart is the brewery connection—you're literally drinking beer brewed on-site, and they offer tours if you want to dive deeper into the process. The food is simple but well-executed: fresh peanuts, grilled sausages, and other bar snacks that pair perfectly with the beer. It's not fancy, but that's the point. Situé sous un moulin à vent fonctionnel, le Proeflokaal de Molen est une véritable institution amstellodamoise. L'ambiance est authentique, avec des tables communes et une foule locale qui n'a rien de forcé. La sélection de bières est solide, avec leurs propres brassins au robinet et des offres saisonnières intéressantes. La terrasse en été est un vrai bijou, parfaite pour traîner avec quelques pintes en regardant la vie passer le long de l'eau.
Ce qui le distingue, c'est le lien avec la brassine—vous buvez littéralement une bière brassée sur place, et ils proposent des visites si vous voulez approfondir le processus. La nourriture est simple mais bien exécutée : des arachides fraîches, des saucisses grillées et d'autres snacks de bar qui s'accordent parfaitement avec la bière.
