Brasserie Ommegang is your go-to for a solid, no-nonsense Belgian brasserie experience right in the center of town. The interior feels properly classic—high ceilings, ornate details, and that clever Ommegang theme woven throughout without feeling like a tourist trap. On nice days, grab a table on the terrace and watch the world go by; in cooler weather, the piano music on Friday and Saturday nights adds just the right amount of atmosphere.
The food is where they really shine. Don't skip the grey shrimp croquettes—they won third place in Brussels' croquette competition, and you can taste why. They're crispy on the outside, creamy inside, and packed with shrimp. The Ommegang burger is another winner if you're feeling fancy, topped with foie gras and a rich tartufata mayo. The mussels are consistently good, and the beer selection from Haacht is extensive. It's not the most exciting place in Brussels, but it's reliably good, and that's often what you're looking for.
