A Certain Café
“Matches your preference for quiet, immersive environments. This venue's atmosphere aligns with your saved favorites.”
L'ambiance
A Certain Café is the kind of spot where you’ll find yourself lingering over filter coffee that actually tastes like coffee, not just hot water with bean extract. Located in the Bonfim neighborhood, it’s a contemporary space that feels more like a curated gallery than a typical café, but don’t let the sleek aesthetic fool you—this place is deeply rooted in quality. The menu is small but thoughtful, with dishes like the scrambled eggs with cheese and scallions that are cooked to perfection, and the French toast with dulce de leche that’s worth the trip alone. The vibe is relaxed but never lazy, with natural light flooding the space and a selection of books to peruse while you sip your pour-over. It’s pet-friendly, which adds to the neighborhood feel, and the staff are genuinely happy to be there. The only real downside? The acoustics can be a bit echoey, so if you’re looking for a whisper-quiet corner, you might want to go early or late.

Filter Coffee Done Right in Bonfim
A Certain Café is a standout in Porto’s café scene, offering a rare combination of excellent coffee, thoughtful food, and a genuinely welcoming atmosphere. The filter coffee is the star here—smooth, complex, and served with care that you don’t always find in cities obsessed with espresso. The food menu is small but hits the mark: the scrambled eggs with cheese and scallions are perfectly cooked, and the French toast with dulce de leche is a dessert-worthy breakfast option that’s hard to resist.
The space itself is contemporary and clean, with plenty of natural light and a selection of books that encourage you to slow down. It’s pet-friendly, which adds to the neighborhood charm, and the staff are friendly without being overbearing. The only minor drawback is the echoey acoustics, which can make the place feel a bit loud when it’s busy, but that’s a small price to pay for the overall quality of what’s on offer.
