About the Vibe
There's been a lot of buzz about the new green space in Testaccio, but be careful what you're looking for. The "Parco Testaccio" locals talk about is actually the revamped playground area in Piazza Santa Maria Liberatrice. While the municipality recently inaugurated a shiny new play area with colorful rubber flooring and modern equipment, the site has been frustratingly stuck in limbo for months with construction barriers still up despite the games being installed. It's a classic Roman story of good intentions meeting bureaucratic delays.

New Playground Stuck in Limbo
The much-anticipated green space in Testaccio's Piazza Santa Maria Liberatrice has been a source of both excitement and frustration for local families. The project, which received over 120,000 euros in funding, has finally installed new playground equipment including a large ship-shaped structure, colorful rubber flooring, and inclusive swings. However, the park has remained closed behind construction barriers for months despite the games being ready, leaving residents and parents waiting for access.
The new installation includes modern play equipment designed for different age groups, from spring riders shaped like tigers and zebras to a ping-pong table for older children. The safety features are impressive with 540 square meters of anti-trauma rubber flooring and restored benches. Yet the ongoing construction delays have turned what should be a neighborhood asset into a source of community frustration, with locals questioning when their children will finally be able to use the space they've been promised.
