About the Vibe
Alchemist isn't just dinner—it's a six-hour theatrical experience that challenges everything you think you know about food. Chef Rasmus Munk serves up courses that are as much social commentary as they are culinary art, from a cod-eye jelly filled with caviar to a coffin-shaped chocolate bar about child labor. You'll need to book months in advance, but the planetarium-like dome, multiple dining rooms, and mind-bending presentations make it worth every bit of the hassle. The experience is divided into "Acts" across different locations, keeping you engaged and surprised throughout. It's not for everyone—some courses are deliberately provocative or even unsettling—but that's the point. You're meant to think about food waste, ethics, and our relationship with nature while eating. If you're looking for a traditional fine dining experience, skip this. But if you want something that will leave you talking about it for weeks, Alchemist delivers in spades.

A Theatrical Dining Experience Unlike Any Other
Alchemist is unlike anything else in Copenhagen—or really anywhere else in the world. This isn't a restaurant you visit; it's an experience you endure (in the best way possible). Chef Rasmus Munk has created a six-hour journey through multiple dining rooms, including a stunning planetarium-like dome, where every course is a piece of performance art. The food is technically flawless and incredibly creative, but what really sets it apart is the storytelling. Each dish comes with a message—about food waste, ethics, surveillance, or child labor—that makes you think long after you've finished eating.
The cod-eye jelly alone is worth the trip: a realistic model of the chef's eye that you break open to find caviar, blue mussels, and razor clams inside. Then there's the coffin-shaped chocolate bar that's meant to make you reflect on child labor in the cocoa industry. Some of it might feel heavy-handed, but that's intentional. Munk wants you to engage with your food on a deeper level.
Yes, it's expensive and you need to book months ahead. But if you're looking for something that will completely change how you think about dining, Alchemist delivers. Just go with an open mind and prepare for a night that will stay with you long after you leave.
