Tucked away on Míšeňská, Vinograf is Prague’s quiet rebellion against the city’s beer obsession. This isn’t your typical tourist trap—you’ll find sommeliers who actually know their stuff, a menu that dances between Italian, French, and Spanish influences, and a wine list so deep you could lose yourself in it. The kitchen, helmed by chefs with Michelin experience, serves dishes like tender beef and perfectly executed duck that pair beautifully with their curated selections. It’s the kind of spot where you linger over a glass of bio-dynamically farmed Czech wine and forget you’re in a city built on lager.
Wine lover’s sanctuary in Prague’s beer capital
Vinograf is a breath of fresh air in Prague’s beer-dominated scene. The moment you step inside, you’re greeted by an intimate, warmly lit space that feels more like a private club than a restaurant. The wine list is the star here—seriously, it’s one of the most impressive I’ve seen in the city, with knowledgeable staff who can guide you through everything from local Czech gems to obscure Italian labels. The food doesn’t disappoint either; the tasting menu we tried featured perfectly executed dishes like duck and beef tenderloin, each course thoughtfully paired with a wine that elevated the flavors. Service is attentive without being intrusive, and the overall vibe is relaxed sophistication. It’s not flashy, but it’s exactly the kind of place locals love to come back to.
The only reason I’m not giving it a perfect score is that it can feel a bit quiet for those looking for a more lively atmosphere, and the hours are limited (closed Sundays for lunch, closes at midnight). But if you’re after a genuine wine and food experience where the focus is on quality over spectacle, this is it. The chocolate soufflé alone is worth the trip, and the staff’s passion for wine is infectious.
