The White Bear in Ruislip is a dependable spot that manages to feel both like a traditional pub and a step up in terms of food quality. It's part of Raymond Blanc's White Brasserie group, and you can tell—the menu leans into that French-British fusion with dishes like the Wyke cheddar cheese soufflé, which is a real highlight. The atmosphere is cosy, with log fires and colourful nooks, and the garden is a pleasant surprise, especially in warmer weather. It's a good place to bring the family, as the kids' menu is well thought out, and the dog-friendly policy is a nice touch for locals.
That said, it's not without its quirks. The service can be a bit hit-or-miss depending on how busy they are, and the noise level can spike when they're screening live sports. The parking situation also requires you to register your car on arrival, which is a bit of a hassle if you're not paying attention. But overall, it's a solid choice for a Sunday roast or a casual dinner, and the seasonal menu keeps things interesting. Fait partie du groupe White Brasserie de Raymond Blanc, ce qui se ressent dans le menu qui propose une fusion franco-britannique avec des plats comme le soufflé au cheddar Wyke, un véritable point fort. L'atmosphère est chaleureuse, avec des cheminées et des coins colorés, et le jardin est une agréable surprise, surtout par temps chaud. C'est un bon endroit pour venir en famille, car le menu pour enfants est bien pensé, et la politique accueillant les chiens est un plus pour les locaux.
