The Victoria in Oxshott is one of Surrey's finest pubs, balancing a warm village atmosphere with serious culinary chops. Managed by Simon King's team since 2021, it's got three AA Rosettes and a spot in the Good Food Guide's 100 Best Local Restaurants. Come for the Sunday roast with the family and dog, or settle by the crackling fire for a mid-week meal—the food is genuinely impressive for a pub.
Surrey's Finest Gastropub with Three Rosettes
The Victoria has transformed into one of Surrey's standout gastropubs since the current team took over in 2021. The interior strikes a perfect balance between village pub warmth and refined dining—think leather benches, well-spaced tables, and crackling fireplaces that make it ideal for chilly evenings. The service is genuinely welcoming; our dog was greeted with water and biscuits, and the staff handled our party with ease.
The food is where The Victoria really shines. With three AA Rosettes and a listing in the Good Food Guide's 100 Best Local Restaurants, the kitchen delivers modern British classics that feel both elevated and comforting. The Sunday roast is a particular highlight—properly executed with quality meat and all the trimmings. Starters like the beetroot and goat's cheese or the oyster snack show real attention to detail. It's gastropub territory, but the execution is on par with many standalone restaurants.
Value is good for the quality, though it's not a budget pub. The beer selection is decent but not exceptional. What really sets The Victoria apart is how it combines a relaxed, community-focused atmosphere with genuinely excellent food. Whether you're after a casual drink, a family Sunday lunch, or a celebratory dinner, it delivers without pretension.
