The Skylark Cafe has carved out a real niche on Wandsworth Common, and honestly, it's one of the few places in South London where you can genuinely escape the city bustle without leaving London. The terrace is the star here – on a sunny afternoon, you'll find locals spread out with their dogs, families with kids, and couples enjoying long lunches. The food is solid if not extraordinary: their Afternoon Tea is properly done up, with warm scones and delicate pastries that justify the £29 price tag, and the summer menu features decent options like shakshuka on toast and Kashmiri chicken buns.
It's not perfect – service can drag when the terrace is packed (which it often is on weekends), and the menu isn't exactly cutting-edge. But that's not what people come here for. You're paying for the location and the vibe, and on that front, it delivers.
