The Merton Apprentice is exactly the kind of unpretentious local pub you hope to find when exploring South West London. Located in the historic Apprentice Shop at Merton Abbey Mills, it's got that perfect mix of heritage and everyday functionality. The riverside setting is lovely, especially on a sunny day when you can sit outside and watch the boats go by. They keep a rotating guest ale on pump which is rare for a pub this size, and the staff clearly know their beer.
The place has a real community feel - it's dog-friendly, family-friendly, and the dartboard gets plenty of use. What really sets it apart is the duck collection: customers donate ducks from their travels, and they hold a charity race on the Wandle each year. It's a charming touch that shows this is more than just a bar, it's a neighborhood institution. The food menu is simple pub fare, but you're really here for the atmosphere and the drinks.

Le Merton Apprentice est exactement le genre de pub local sans chichis qu'on espère trouver en explorant le sud-ouest de Londres. Situé dans l'historique Apprentice Shop du site de Merton Abbey Mills, il offre ce mélange parfait entre patrimoine et fonctionnalité quotidienne. Le cadre au bord de la rivière est magnifique, surtout par temps ensoleillé quand on peut s'asseoir dehors et regarder les bateaux passer. Ils proposent une bière en fût changeante régulièrement, ce qui est rare pour un pub de cette taille, et le personnel semble vraiment connaître son métier.
