A proper Battersea local with heart
The Beehive is the sort of pub you stumble into and immediately feel like a regular. Perched on St John's Hill in Battersea, it's been freshly refurbished but hasn't lost its soul — there's still a fireplace with a fake moose head above it, local art on the walls, and a beer garden that's a proper sun-trap in summer. The staff are genuinely friendly, the kind who'll chat about the football and remember your face next time. It's not trying to be a gastropub or a cocktail bar; it's just a really good local.
Where it shines is as a community hub. They sponsor grassroots teams — a ladies rugby side, men's football and rugby — and show all the major Sky Sports events, so match days have a proper buzz without being overwhelmingly packed. The food is fresh-to-order pub grub and sharing snacks rather than anything fancy, but it hits the spot when you're a few pints in. They've even got a doggie menu, with 10p from each item going to HART Dog Rescue, which tells you a lot about the place's priorities.
It's not flawless — opening hours are a bit limited (closed Mondays, and they shut at 9 on Sundays), and there's no WiFi if you're trying to work. But if you want a warm, unpretentious pub where you can watch the game, bring your dog, and feel like part of the neighbourhood, this is your spot.

Perché sur St John's Hill à Battersea, il a été rénové récemment mais n'a rien perdu de son âme : il y a toujours une cheminée surmontée d'une tête de wapiti en plastique, des tableaux d'artistes locaux accrochés aux murs, et un jardin qui prend joliment le soleil l'été. Le personnel est vraiment chaleureux, le genre de gens qui discutent foot et se souviennent de vous au retour. Ce n'est pas un gastropub ni un bar à cocktails ; c'est juste un très bon pub de quartier.
Là où il se distingue, c'est dans son rôle de pilier communautaire. Le pub sponsorise des équipes locales — une équipe de rugby féminine, du foot et du rugby masculins — et diffuse tous les grands événements Sky Sports. Les jours de match, l'ambiance est animée sans être étouffante. Côté assiette, on reste sur du pub grub frais à la commande et des plats à partager, rien de prétentieux, mais ça fait l'affaire après quelques pintes. Ils ont même un menu pour chiens, avec 10p par article reversés à HART Dog Rescue — ça en dit long sur l'état d'esprit du lieu.
Ce n'est pas parfait : les horaires sont un peu restreints (fermé le lundi, fermeture à 21h le dimanche) et pas de WiFi si vous comptiez travailler. Mais pour un pintre au coin du feu, un match entre amis ou une sortie avec le chien, c'est exactement le pub de quartier qu'on rêve d'avoir près de chez soi.
