Solid neighborhood gastropub with great cocktails
Tenters has carved out a solid reputation in Dublin 8's Liberties, and for good reason. This isn't trying to be anything more than it is—a place where you can grab a proper meal without breaking the bank or sacrificing quality. The seafood chowder is the standout starter, rich and creamy with generous chunks of fish and shellfish. For mains, the FX Buckley beef burger is a safe bet if you're craving comfort food, though the 10oz striploin holds its own if you're feeling fancy. Their cocktail menu is where they really shine, with creative drinks like the Old Fashioned variations and their espresso martini that's become a local favorite.
The vibe is relaxed without being sloppy—think exposed brick, warm lighting, and a crowd that's mostly locals rather than tourists. Service is friendly and efficient, though it can get a bit hectic on weekends. Reservations are definitely worth making, especially for dinner. It's not the most exciting spot in Dublin, but it's consistently good, which is what you want in a neighborhood pub.
