Sweet Flamingo is less a café and more a sweet sanctuary tucked away near the Palais des Beaux Arts. You’ll find yourself sinking into cozy corners surrounded by the scent of freshly baked carrot cake and red velvet cupcakes, while their signature teas—named after New York neighborhoods—pour into your cup. Come for the weekend brunch (it’s the real deal, not just an excuse to eat bacon), stay for the DIY workshops, and leave with a box of cookies you definitely didn’t plan to buy.
Sweet sanctuary with standout brunch
Sweet Flamingo has quietly become one of Lille’s favorite spots for anyone with a sweet tooth or a need for a break from the city’s hustle. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, with plenty of room to spread out your book or laptop. Their menu changes with the seasons, but the carrot cake and red velvet cupcakes are consistently outstanding—rich, moist, and not too sweet. The teas are a standout, especially the ones named after NYC neighborhoods; the “Brooklyn” blend is my go-to.
The weekend brunch is worth the trip alone. It’s a generous spread with both sweet and savory options, and the staff are friendly without being overbearing. It can get busy on Saturday mornings, so I’d recommend booking ahead. If you’re looking for a place to unwind, grab a coffee, and maybe pick up a cookie to go, this is it.
