Muret La Barba is a rare find in Berlin: a proper Italian restaurant that also happens to be a serious wine shop. Don't let the unassuming storefront fool you—inside, you'll find some of the best pasta and risotto in the city, served in a cozy, wine-filled space. The lunch menu changes weekly and is consistently excellent, while dinner offers more substantial Italian classics.
Authentic Italian in a Wine Shop Setting
Muret La Barba is one of those places you might walk past a hundred times without realizing what you're missing. Tucked away on Rosenthaler Straße in the Scheunenviertel, this unassuming spot is both a wine shop and a serious Italian restaurant. The menu changes weekly, but you can count on consistently excellent pasta and risotto—some of the best in Berlin. The buttery ravioli with ricotta and asparagus, or the classic conchiglie with ragu, are standout dishes that keep locals coming back.
The wine selection is impressive, with bottles from 14 Italian regions and 30 producers. If you buy a bottle to drink in the restaurant, you can even take the remainder home. Service is friendly though not always the most polished, but the quality of the food more than makes up for it. Whether you're stopping in for a quick lunch or settling in for a proper Italian dinner, Muret La Barba delivers an authentic experience that's hard to find elsewhere in the city.
