Meierei im Stadtpark is the more accessible sibling of the world-famous Steirereck, tucked just a floor below in the same Stadtpark complex. You'll find excellent value here with a Bib Gourmand designation, serving up refined Austrian classics like Wiener schnitzel with suckling calf and their famous Kaiserschmarrn. Come for the breakfast by the Wienfluss or grab a table on the terrace in summer when the park views are at their best.
Parkside Austrian Classics at Great Value
Meierei im Stadtpark offers a rare combination: the culinary pedigree of the Steirereck team without the fine-dining price tag or reservation stress. Located just below their Michelin-starred sibling, this bistro-style restaurant serves elevated Austrian classics that feel both comforting and refined. The Wiener schnitzel made with suckling calf is a standout, and their Kaiserschmarrn is worth saving room for. The real draw, however, is the location—floor-to-ceiling windows overlook the Stadtpark and Wien River, making it one of Vienna's best breakfast spots. The terrace becomes particularly coveted in summer months.
Service is professional but warm, and the cheese selection alone (around 150 varieties) could warrant a visit. While it can get busy during brunch hours, the turnover is efficient enough that you won't wait long. It's not quite the culinary experience of the Steirereck upstairs, but for quality Austrian cuisine in a beautiful park setting, Meierei delivers exceptional value. Just note they're closed Sundays and holidays, so plan accordingly.
