Marrufo is what happens when a neighbourhood bar decides to take cocktails seriously without taking itself too seriously. Opened in 2021 in the old Casa Candi space on Calle Noviciado, it kept the soul of a classic Malasaña bar — warm, unpretentious, like someone's living room — and added a sharp cocktail program with a serious agave bent. At €10 a drink, you're getting some of the best value for quality cocktails in central Madrid.

Neighborhood cocktail bar with a serious agave habit
Marrufo doesn't try to be a temple of mixology — and that's exactly why it works. The space, which took over the beloved Casa Candi on Calle Noviciado, still feels like a proper neighbourhood bar: warm lighting, no attitude, staff who actually seem happy to see you. The cocktail menu leans hard into agave spirits, so if you're a mezcal fan, this is your spot. The Naked and Famous and El Diablo are standouts, but the house signatures like the Electric Güera Acid Test are worth exploring.
At €10 a cocktail, the price-to-quality ratio is honestly hard to beat in this part of Madrid. You'd easily pay 50% more for drinks of this calibre elsewhere. The reviewers aren't wrong — the service is genuinely welcoming, and the atmosphere is décontracté in the best way. It's the kind of place where you come for one drink and end up staying for three.
The one catch: it's small, and word has gotten out. Weekends can get cramped, and there's no reservation system for the bar area. Go on a weekday evening or arrive early if you want a spot at the counter where the action is.
